Resources and Training

We understand that adoption is a journey that requires a lot of thoughtful preparation, training, and ongoing support. We encourage our families to do everything possible to establish the foundations and supports needed to see them through every step in their journey.

Following are several resources that  our families have found valuable.

  • Refresh Support Group

    • Meets on the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 6:45-8:45pm
    • Overlake Christian Church in Redmond, WA
    • Childcare is available with RSVP.
    • Optional dinner is available from 6:00-6:30pm (small donation for dinner and childcare).
    • For more information, call Overlake Christian Church at (425) 702-0303.
  • Foster, Adoptive and Relative Care Support Groups

    • Provided by Fostering Together, a program of Olive Crest.
  • Ongoing Training

The Alliance for  Child Welfare Excellence offers free training to licensed foster parents.

  • Refresh Conference: Seattle

As the Refresh folks will tell you themselves, this is a "time for you to escape from the distractions and chaos of life and be refreshed, equipped, and inspired." There is nothing quite like being with thousands of other foster and adoptive parents who get you. Mark next year's date on your calendar: March 15-16, 2019.
